Do schools kill creativity?

Really, I did understand just a few parts of Ken Robinson´s talk. I get some of his points, but he seems to be a humorist more than a academic man. I understood what he said about the creativity in children. They born being artist, like Picasso said, but the school and the social system end for getting carried away them. Their creativity is in all children´s life. They wake up, they draw, they speack, they jump and run with creativity. And they lose it as they grow and are educated. So, Sir Ken Robinson says that this problem raises a challenge to improve the way in which we are educating to our children.

Ken Robinson´s english is not so clear to me. So, I did not get specifically to his point and the details of his studies. Despite of that, this english talk and Ken Robinson´s point of view must be very interesting.

Finish

I think that to write and to read are a good way to learning any thing. Already be in English, Russian or Spanish. But, really I enjoy writting in Spanish. I love my natal languaje to express my ideas. But, for an english class, the blogging experience was fine.

Any way, there was something that I didn`t like. I love to writting different things. I like to change the look and the approach of the things. I felt that this was not easy to me in this course. The teacher told me that I didn´t make what I have to do, when indeed it was only a different form, as when we had to speak about our favorite technology. That was not good, because in my future as a journalist, my boss is going to edit me. But the university is the time to write like I want to.

Did I improve my english? Not like I wanted to.

Learning to Learn

This universitary term has been very bored. The most of our subjets has been slightly demanding. Nevertheless of that, there is two subjets very usefull for our professional and personal formation. This subjets are suficiently demanding. One of them is very interesting and the other one teaches me how to do a good journalist work. This courses are Chronicle and Interview and Interpersonal Comunication. Ther firt one is teaching by the journalist Juan Pablo Cárdenas and the next one is dicted by the psicologist, Osvaldo Corrales.

Both teachers, in their own areas, are very good professionals, and they teach their knowledges in a very good form. The subjets are very usefull in their own way.

Chronicle and Interview

I love this course because is what I want to do like a journalist: to write. Juan Pablo Cárdenas is a out-standing chilean journalist, who teach us, from his own experience in medias, how to write. Not just like a journalist. He teach us to write in a good way, like a comunication worker and like a good writter.

Interpersonal Comunication

And I love this course too. I think that this is the most enriching subjet until this years of career. I learn a lot about the comunicacion evolution; about many authors and their studies of human comunication and of course, I learn a lot about the relations ships. This is teaching by a psicologist, who uses his own experience to make grow our knowledge.

This are my favorite subjets and the new thing I have learnt in my third semester of career.

To work, to travel... to be happy

In five years from now I will have gone out of university. I will be a journalist. I hope to have a work, in some mass media, to get the money what I need. But, personally I hope to have where to write. I would like to work, in a freelance way, writing about anything; chronicles, articules, columns and anything I can do. I don´t care if I will receipt money for write. It doesn´t matter. I will get enough money, in a mass media or something like that, to travel to Europe. I hope to take a post grade out of this country. Specially, I would like to study and work in Spain, to get my second nationality. That is because the father of my grandfather was spanish. So, I can be spanish.

In five years from now I will be 24 years old. Maybe, I will be living out of my house, in a not expensive apartment in the centre of Santiago. Otherwise, I will stay in my home, with my father and my brother. With my journalist salary I will help in the expenses of my home and I will keep some money to travel and study in Europe.

And what about love? Well. I f my relationship is going fine, I would be charmed to travel with my boyfriend, César, to Europe, where he can take a post grade and work too. After this trip, for which I wait extend for one year or two, we will back to our country with new knowledge, to work and begin a life together in our home and to form our family.

In five years from now I want to be happy and motivated to begin with my life.

I don´t Know

I am strange person. I love journalim since a I was ten years old, but before entering to this university I ´ve never read a newspaper or a novel by my own. In fact, I did not like to read. I hated to read. Now, of course I love read, but my naturally way to be is lazy... and I don´t read if nobody forces me to do it, like a teacher.

Because of that, I don´t know who is the best in my field. I can named a lot of good television journalist, but they are not the best journalist to me.

Emmm... I must say something? So I have to lie.

Well, Mauricio Bustamante is a good journalist. He works in TVN, the national channel. He apeers in television every day, except the weekends. He narrates the principal news very early in the morning and in the evening, like lunch time.

Dreaming as a Journalist

I am a journalism student. I am coursing my second year of carrer and this is one of my life dreams... really, my first life dream. By 2000 I was ten years old. Between my girl games and friends I always keeped a nice hope in my mind. I loved the people who ran after a prominent person with a microphone in their hands. I loved that beatiful women siting next to a handsome boy. The both were so intelligent and perfect. I always wanted to be like them. When I was ten years old that was my vision of journalism. Later I discovered that this beatiful career is more than this vision. At fiveteen I knew that the journalists are professionals that can work in a lot of jobs. Are professionals that know about a lot of themes, and they can help in the society in many diferent ways. So, being here right now is one of my dreams, since I was ten years old.

The journalist and their work make a very important job in the society. They can collaborate to improve the society by the real and honest information. This is because the information is a very important tool in our social life. If we didn´t have the information that we need, we couldn´t take good decitions. In conclution, journalist grant to the people a tool in the social life. Also, journalism can collaborate giving different points of view. It can overcome a great problem in our country: the ignorance coused by the mass medias and the big comunication companies.

To be a good journalist I need a lot of tecnologic tools, like a recorder or a personal computer. But, the most important things are comunication habilities and nearness to the people... in my own vision.

I love this career. Perhaps, in the future, I am going to work in a bad journalism mass media. I have do it to living in the future. But, I think that I will achieve my mission as a journalist and I will not die in the attempt.

John Lennon´s delivery in Picture

This is a picture that shows John Lennon, a very important musician of our history and his wife: Yoko Ono. They were a couple in the seventies, after the separation of the wonderful band The Beatles. A separation that seems to be coused by the same woman that shows this picture.

In spite of this event, this woman was very important to John Lennon. He loved her more than anything. She inspired a lot of his songs, like the song "Woman", dedicated to Yoko Ono. In the lyrics, he expresses all the love that he feels for the woman of torn eyes.

This picture is only one of hundreds of photos of the couple. They were activists for the World Peace and Non violence. So, they have many anonymous pictures, in diferent places an moments.

I love this picture because it shows the "Real Love". In adittion, I know very well the history of this couple. I know how dificult it was to be together, and I know the suffering that Yoko felt when John Lennon left this life, in the eighties. I love this picture because John Lennon is naked and grasped to the body of the woman that he loves, showing his unic and wonderful love for her.

That´s why I love the music and this picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Nothing to say, but Google

Really, when I must think about a web site that I like... I can´t think in anything. I have Internet conexion in my house since I was eleven years old. In that time, I loved to spend a lot of time in the front of my personal computer, visiting any web site, wasting my time.

Because of that, now, at my nineteen years old, I hate to spend so time in the front of my PC... I don´t know any web site related with my career, because I really don´t like to search this stuffs.

If I must to write about some web site, I would like to tell you about Google. This is the most used engine of search. Google has more than 8.168 million of web pages in it´s virtual index. Google answers more than 200 million of searches per day.

I visit this engine of search every day. With this page I search all what I need in internet, from all kind of images to academic documents. Is very useful, not only for the journalism. Is very useful for every person that is looking for something.

To be so honest.

The Real Imperative Technology

My second english homework: write about my favorite technology. A piece of technology wich I couldn´t live with out. This is so difficult. Yes!, it is difficult to me. Despite of we living in a technologic world, where all is a "technology".

That is what make feel complicated. When I was read the homework in the teacher´s blog, I thought inmediatly, in my cell phone (that is a music player and a little camera, too), in my personal computer, the TV, the radio and all that technologic thing that bring to me a most confortable life. I think that everyone thought this.

Nevertheless, have you ever thought in the real piece of technology wich we couldn´t live?

That things we use every day, not for our confort but for make us a easier life. All the technology that use the food industries, the buses of the public transport, the system of drinking water, the medical laboratories that bring me health or the machines that produces my clothe. Really, this is my favorite technology. Because I couldn´t be in this life like a monkey, but I can live with out the TV. I think so.

The English Version

Her name is Catalina. She is nineteen years old. She lives in Santiago... really near Valparaiso. She studies journalism at Universidad de Chile in her second year of career and she loves it . She likes to sleep and to eat domestic food cooked by her Nany or her father. Her favorite food are the vegetables and any accompaniment. Her favorite music is Rock, specially the music of The Beatles and Queen, between other masters of rock, of course. She loves to spend time with her boyfriend, who is very good musician. She is now in her first course of english at the same university, at the third level called "Pre-intermediate". Like a first homework, she is now writing about her self in a blog, created specially to this english course. She loves the English languaje; because of that she want´s to learn to speak and write in english. Nevertheless, she knows that this course is more difficult than the school, where she never learned another thing that “The Verb To Be“ (in a ironic way, of course). She hopes to learn something else now.
